The Journal of Adolescent Health published an article titled “Transgender Youth’s Disclosure of Gender Identity to Providers Outside of Specialized Gender Centers”. The article demonstrates how transgender youth disclose their identities to medical providers. “Respondents said they felt more comfortable revealing their gender if their chosen names and pronouns were used in the waiting room; they were given the opportunity to list them on forms; and front desk staff were were aware of their importance.” It is also noted in the survey that parental acceptance and support leads to transgender youth being more open about their identity.
