This report was created by the Hawai’i Department of Public Health to provide a source of statistics on health disparities for gender and sexual minorities in Hawai’i, with a focus on transgender youth. It provides information on māhu, a third gender term used by Kānaka (Native Hawaiians), as well as historical background, personal narratives, and a report of data on transgender youth from the Hawai’i Youth Risk Behavior Survey.
