New Data on Youth Who Identify as Transgender from CDC’s Youth Risk Behavior Survey

For the first time, the CDC has released data collected from 10 states from the Youth Risk Behavior Survey on health behaviors and experiences of transgender identifying youth. This report, from the Vermont Department of Health, highlights the current health disparities and risks that transgender youth in Vermont face compared to their cisgender peers, including increased risks for physical, emotional, sexual violence and suicide. Recommendations are made about what schools and communities can do to support transgender youth.
